How to recover PC lost passwords with Ophcrack

Whether you’ve forgotten your windows password or you’ve got evil plans in mind, you have quite a few options. In this video I’ll show you how to find a windows password and how to protect yourself from being hacked. All you need to do is download the “Ophcrack Live CD” from their website and select the ISO image that corresponds to your operating system, then boot from it on your computer. You can also boot Ophcrack from a portable USB device using an executable that you can find here. Download and run the “TazUSB.exe” and select the ISO image to be installed. Then select a USB drive that you want to install it on. It should take some time but once finished, you should be able to boot from your USB drive from the BIOS interface on the computer you’re hacking. Once launched, hit the top option in the screen you are presented with. It will boot into the Linux operating system and eventually it will bring you to a desktop environment and start attempting to crack passwords. This may take a while. You’ll see the passwords pop up in the top pane of the window. It recovers 99.9% of alpha-numeric passwords quite quickly. It found my “qwerty123” in just over a minute. You can reboot and log in to windows using the password that Ophcrack found and have full access to the computer. So how can you prevent this from happening to you? Well, to increase your chances of having an uncrackable password, use something complex and greater than 14 characters. You can generate strong passwords online for free. Combining uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols, is the most efficient. Don’t forget to create a “password reset disk” in case you can’t remember your complicated password. On Microsoft’s web page you can find how to set one up.
